Understanding & Enjoying Waterford Nature
Description:
The course will provide a comprehensive introduction into nature and biodiversity within County Waterford. The diverse habitats within the county will be explored in depth, together with the changing seasons and the profound effect of both on species diversity in Waterford. Migration will be explored and explained. We will discuss how to get involved in nature and how to identify species and what is needed to maximise the enjoyment thereof. Two sessions will be devoted to an in-depth study of birds, mammals, butterflies, and dragonflies. A session will explain where and when are the best times and places to encounter wildlife within the county. Threats to habitats and wildlife within the county will be reviewed and remedial action and conservation actions explained. The final indoor session will review the course to date and deal with any issues arising. Three field trips will be undertaken during the duration of the course but are weather dependent and will be held at weekends.
